Again I felt compelled to paint the chick I got for Christmas. It just kinda screams paint me. 

I looked around my studio and saw a beautiful red apple. One my daughter brought me a couple of weeks ago.I got the knife and cut it up wanting to capture the fleshy part and seeds but to my surprise it was all brown inside so I did what any artist would do I changed it. Thanks for following or just simply taking time to look at my blog.

Today I decided to abandon my thick rich paint to some degree anyway and soften up a little.

I painted this a while back at one of my workshops. It was simpler and I was just not quite satisfied with it. I added the vase of flowers and the little blue flowers to the right and also the lemon wedge. I like it much better now. 16x20 oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

I painted these cherries for a youtube video I made. Also I think we will paint these at an upcoming workshop I will be teaching soon. Recently I have been using a paint eraser to sign my name and literally wipe paint out of areas where I want to add different things. I used it for the stems to wipe away the paint. Then I added a thin line of paint back in with a liner brush. I am really loving that little tool. Both of these are for sale just email me

Always I seem to have a problem with naming my paintings. I stand before them when they are done

and I am sure I must have the most puzzled look. What should I call it? With each one special and deserving of a good name sometimes I am sure I fall short. But when you have named almost 2,000 paintings they all seem to run together. Anyway that is my dilemma.

I have been painting larger lately. This one is a 20x16 oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

 in just the right amount of water to keep me fresh and crisp. But isn't it true that we are never happy

A Simple Gift by Angela Sullivan

A couple of apples and a gift of bath salts in a pretty box. This box sits on my shelf

day after day overlooked while I pic other things to paint. But not today. Today it caught my attention and I reached for it and sat it behind two apples. It still amazes me that each dab of color was intentional. Each dark blue and light area yep.....meant to be. Each shimmer of white and the yellow on the apples all placed there on purpose. I love painting...really.

My Kitchen Towel by Angela Sullivan

One day there were three oranges in a bowl on the counter. Actually we had been there a while just kinda

drying out. We were neglected and alone. She walked by and flipped on a light and wouldn't you know that at that very moment a glimmer of light hit us just like a spotlight. With a slight crooked smile her gaze caught ours and it was love at second site. She gently picked us up careful not to drop us. She carried us away and placed us on this beautiful kitchen towel. This is where we belonged all along.
