I just heard that my piece "Wha-La" ( created after my trip to France ) is on the cover of Art Doll Quarterly, Winter issue.
They have put together a really nice layout of my work, too. I think it comes on the newsstands on Nov. 1st.
I haven't seen it yet, but I did find a glimpse of it online:

A Hike in the Ko'olau Mountains
Today I hiked the mountains nearby my home. At one point we came upon what I think was an ancient heiau, which is an area that was used as a spiritual center and in another place I spotted a rock that had been wrapped with a Tea leaf, which is what people leave as an offering to Pele, the goddess of the volcanos. As I walked the trails through the river beds and up to the ridge line I could feel the mana and the presence of old Hawaii. Nature is so encompassing here.
And I found the most darling little curlie Q vines...just the right size for a new creation!

A Nest Egg for a Rainy Day
Wha-La! It's done and I love it!
It was a bit of a struggle...though... this piece. I had a great vision, but for some reason, it was not easy coming together. What finally made it the piece work was unclenching my greedy little hands and using the very last of my horded antique metallic mesh that I had found in a Paris flea market!
Oh...... it was a hard to let it go.
I contacted THE source for fabulous antique lace, net and trim in New York, and asked them if they had any of this...but NO! They said that they can't find it anywhere anymore! Oh.....
But it looks so great on this nest, doesn't it. It is the thing that makes it magic.
That very fine, silver metallic antique mesh netting that lines the inside of the bird nest and surround the outside of the nest.
I found the bird nest in the forest, next to our house. I used a preservative on it it and laid it in a little cut gourd.
I covered the gourd with antique music pages and crackle glazed and antiqued that.
The umbrella is covered with red mirror mosaic tiles. Mirror tiles line in the interior of the umbrella.
The umbrella handle is secure in the nest..... and in the crook of the handle lies the rhinestone covered egg.
A magical nest egg for a magical future.
Now I will pack it up and ship it off to the Red Project Fund Raiser.

The Red Art Project
I am creating a piece for the Red Art Project.
I got a wonderful idea and vision of a piece to make.....and it started out just great......and then.....
then I got stuck. Gosh, creating art is such an emotional roller coaster ride!
I got unstuck and it started flowing again.......and now I'm back to a challenge on the umbrella part........
Through all the ups and downs though, this is fun and for a great cause.
Here's a little tease.....and the name of this piece will be "A Nest Egg for a Rainy Day".

turtle sightings.......
The first thing I do each morning, here in Kawela Bay, is to go out on the deck to see if any turtles came up to sleep in front of our house.
They make such beautiful tracks in the sand. They almost looks like tire tracks, don't they?
This morning it looks like there was a convergence of turtles.
I've seen this once before, where several turtles came up together and actually laid so close that they crossed fins.
By looking at these tracks it looks like there were four that laid together and then there were the two little ones off to the side.
