I am a lonely fish on my way to meet other fish. Yes I am in deep water

but not like you think. I am sweet if you can call a fish sweet. I stay near my home and 

obey my parent fish who don't really ask to much of me. One day I will meet a girl and 

little fish will hatch out just like me. Yep and so is the way of the universe. So for now

I will just keep on swimming and enjoy all that life has to give. Hey! gotta go now

cause I think I see a worm. :).

Am I dead? Is this heaven? Surely not what I imagined. The creatures here are so

ugly. Two eyes of course, a nose and a mouth... is that what I think is a smile. This worm was

not worth it. Somehow I don't feel dead.....Nooooooooo don't touch me. The hook is 

out I guess then next step is shall I say out of the frying pan into the fire... That creature just

took the hook out and is tossing me back into the water....Can it be that like a cat I have more than 

one life. And I am swimming as fast as I can I must tell others... I promise I will never eat 

another worm I don't care how good they look. Whew! that was close.

Away in the woods someone sleeps but not for long. The little boat

awaits the long fishing day ahead. Surely this day will bring the big catch.

Somewhere deep in the dark water a monster is lurking but with the cast

of the right lure he won't be able to resist. At dusk the little boat will be

returned here to its place of solitude.

which is quickly devoured by the passing fish.

Dedicated readers of this blog might remember my post on the recent Supreme Court decision that greenlighted a private goldmining operation killing all life in a pristine Alakan Lake located in one of America's National Forests. Yes, this land is your land

Supreme Court Greenlights Killing All Life in Lake

No more fish from Lower Slate Lake thanks to the Corps of Engineers.

Here's the short story: An Alaska-based gold mining company wanted to dump 4.5 million tons of heavy-metal-tainted tailings and slurry directly into Lower Slate Lake in Alaska's Tongass National Forest, knowing it would kill all life in that lake.

The Bush Administration's Army Corps of Engineers greenlighted that idea and issued a permit.

Now the U.S. Supreme Court has said killing all life in that lake is fine -- go right ahead. Read the complete story in The New York Times and the Alaska Daily News.

And what is to prevent the Army Corps of Engineers from greenlighting the dumping of toxins in lakes, stream and rivers near you? Not a damn thing!

And what has Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska to say about all this?

Up to her neck in ambition, babies, a pregnant teenager daughter, and various klepto-scandals, she none-the-less has the time to twitter that the Supreme Court decision was "good news on responsible development & great jobs for AK" and that the "Court's ruling a green light for responsible resource dvpmt," because it created 300 temporary jobs in her state.

Wow. Think about how many lakes, forests, streams, rivers, and mountains she would be willing to kill in order to create the 2.6 million jobs lost in the last year of the Bush Administration.


Lower Slate Lake is soon to be a stinking dead zone.

Pearl

Pearl and I took a walk down to the river yesterday. There were scores of cormorants fishing, and a lot of humans too. The shad are on the run, and it looks like the run is up again this year, which is excellent.
