The Runner

The Runner
Well Well Well!   If I look happy that is because I am.
I just got back from a walk with my person. Well it started out to be a walk
but I broke free of my lease and it became a run. If you think my tongue is hanging out
you should see his. The funniest thing I have ever seen. Yep he is laying over in the grass
right now just trying to catch his breath. I think I will take it easy on him and just go lay down
at his side. Don't you think that will be nice of me or should I just go for another run?

Morning Coffee

Morning Coffee
The first cup is always the best. When my eyes pop open the first thing I think about
is that I am glad to be alive and thankful that God allowed me live to see another day and then Coffee.
As I lay there I think I can smell that wonderful aroma. My imagination I am sure.... But wait...
my husband did get up sometime before me and the coffee is made. I see the dark rich fluid as it becomes dark in the cup. I feel the warmth in my hand as I hold the delicate china cup and drink in the senses of
pleasure even before my lips touch the cool glass rim. And then Ahhh! Nothing like it. I would like to
share this toast with my artist friend Janett Marie who daily paints coffee cups. Visit her blog to experience a different kind of cup.

Pink Pig Blue Pig

Pink Pig Blue Pig
These two pig share the same pasture. They roam and root. They gallop and play in the
morning sun. They don't know that one is Caucasian and the other not so there are no prejudices here.
They love they share and they are ultimately happy. Imagine that.

Keeper of the Flame.....

A thought....a hazy vision....some clay, some tools, fabric, mosaic tiles.....a new piece appears. What is her story?

in her hand she holds a tiny half egg that I found in the forest.  I sealed it, preserved it, reinforced it, painted, and embellished it and attached a flame.  Perhaps she is saying that within us all lies the flame of creation, of transformation, of new beginnings....

Big Cat

Big Cat
I am a feline but most people who see me just say that is one
Big Cat. I love in the jungle and I am the ruler.
Don't question my authority cause I really am one big cat and I do like
to eat meat and in the grand scheme of things if you are
reading this you are meat. Get my drift?

Any Cow

Any Cow
Well well well. I am a cow.... Bet you guessed that right. I am some special cow... Not just any cow.
I stand all day long and eat the green grass. In the evening I hear the horn of a vehicle.
That truck horn is calling me to come eat some hay,
calling me alone because I am a cow but not just any cow you know....

Life is Full

My professional waiting-painfully-long-in
-medical-exam
-rooms-for-news face.
I have many notes and seeds for blogs ready to burst. But I've been so busy with wonderful adventuring that I have not had the time to write. Instead I've been out living and collecting wonderful stories to be able to relive again when I get to writing them. This is a wonderful position to find myself in for a change: my life has been rich and full, eye opening, and transformative over the past month.

I lived in NYC for two weeks and experienced Manhattan to the fullest. I received highly targeted radiation to the two problematic areas of cancer growth on my vertebrae and the large area on my sacrum every morning at 8:30am for 10 days. Overall, I felt very well during it, and things went smoothly except for one comedicaly outrageous debacle on the second-to-last day (full blog worthy).

My esophagus is very irritated from the treatment, but besides some deep achiness that's the only thing that's lingering. I'm told it is temporary. More importantly, I had a PET Scan yesterday to check on the other small areas of lymphoma involvement that we have not been addressing while I received radiation to focus on the immediate problem areas. Well, remarkably and unexpectedly, just two days after wrapping my rad sessions, the scan revealed that the three big, scary spots are ELIMINATED!! All that is left are tiny flecks showing divets of where the cancer cells were once collecting.

We were all shocked looking at this scan in comparison to my last. The radiation immediately took care of the problem and my bones are now free of danger and the major pain gone. This is an incredible feeling – a literal weight off my back. Not surprisingly, the small areas of lymph node disease involvement in my chest and in my abdomen are a little hotter on the scan with some new spots creeping in, and I am experiencing some symptoms of this. We are formulating a plan to get those back under control with a next course of treatment.

Overall, it's a very good report for my circumstance. I suppose this is what disease maintenance means. My life of late has been full of good food, culture, weather, parks, tons of walking, clearheadesness, happiness, drive, clarity, and wonderful experiences of both Karin time and close friend and family, husband-and-wife time and love. After some convincing and treatment plan tweaking, my wonderful medical team at Sloan-Kettering gave me clearance to travel as planned. As long as nothing crazy happens between now and then, on Wednesday, Craig and I jet set for a childhood friend's wedding in Malibu, CA. After the weekend in LA, I will fly to – finally – see my sister (my life blood) in her Las Vegas environment. My parents and brother will be flying out as well, and we'll spend the week touring the mountains and deserts of Nevada ... and the crazy Vegas strip ... as a family. It will be wonderful. I look forward to lots of blogging in detail when I get back. I have many stories to tell from the past few weeks.

Learn to create a perfectly balance flying fae!

Boy!  I had to make many many faeries to finally figure out how to get them to balance.  But after the 6th try, I figured out a simple process to mastering this!
So then I thought....this is perfect for a class so others don't have to go through the trial and error, of what should be easy, but believe me...is not! :)  Click here for more info: http://aforartistic2.homestead.com/flying-faerie.html
So now I have them hanging all above my art table.  Sweet little things!

United We Stand

United We Stand
Don't know why as I looked at these I titled it this. I guess maybe because
as CNN plays on the TV telling me such gloom and doom I think of country and
freedom and family and my feeling interjected into my painting for today.
Who can argue with that..... United We Stand.

Pandora and the Seven Sins....new online class!

Meet Pandora!  And meet her Seven Sins!
This really fun, really big class has just been opened at That Creative Place, online school.
In this class you will learn how to sculpt and paint Pandora and each of her Seven Sins.  It is really fun to capture the expressions of Gluttony, Pride, Anger, Lust, Greed, Envy and Sloth.
You will also learn to use a gourd as Pandora's body and the container for the Sins. And how to use a lazy susan as a display turntable.

The Sins can sit on the rim of the turn table, or you can place them within her body.....and then reach in and choose your sin for the day!  In this one class, you will learn about apoxie sculpt, collage, painting and sculpting technique, application of fabric, crackle glaze, and embellishments.
And of course, once the Sins have been removed, Hope remains.  Do you see her there?

Here are the pile of Sins...funny little creatures, sure to make you laugh!  Come join me for this really fun class and create for yourself, a masterpiece.  The class is structured to allow you to go at your own speed, to join the group or just to follow the detailed instructions and photos on your own.  For more information, go here: That Creative Place

Storage Building

Storage Building
I grew up in the deep south. A country road Hwy 84 in face goes from
Grove Hill to Monroeville, Al.   Right before you cross the Alabama river
there is a farm with cows and trees and a silo. I remember it from my childhood and
it is still standing. I always wanted to paint it and now I have

Misty Lake

Misty Lake
Somewhere out there is a hidden lake where the water trickles down the
path of least resistance kinda like some peoples lives. That is the easy path.
I must admit somedays I do follow that path just because some days I am lazy but then
others I fight against the current. I stand up for what I believe and scream loudly in
protest against things that are wrong. I miss the days where morales were held sacred
and the people who held them high were thought of as good instead of bad.
Makes me wonder where we are headed.
