Once again I revisit this ornament. If you have followed my paintings for very long you will remember it from last year and maybe the year before. Anyway, I will tell the story once more. Many years ago when I was going through a very rough time in life my sister bought me this special ornament. It was very expensive back then and I loved it more than any other ornament and valued it for years. Last Christmas as my daughter was taking down my tree she said what if I drop and ornament and break it. I said it really doesn't matter except for that special one. About that time I heard the crash of fragile glass and a loud gasp.... I knew in my heart of hearts that it was that ornament. I went into the living room and she just stood there with her mouth open.  I cried...she cried.... gently she swept up the broken pieces and put them in a special glass jar. I could not just throw it away. I got it out today and placed it with my little clear glass snowman. As I arranged the still life set up I decided to put the broken piece on top like a funny little hat. Cute, I thought...

A favorite and a few pieces of peppermint. I found this pitcher at TJ Maxx and fell in love with it it is shiny but has ridges. I am sure you will see more with this pitcher. Also I bought the little white dish next to the Santa with the piece of peppermint in it. The red candle is one my sister gave me for my birthday many years ago. I am trying my best to keep the background smooth to emphasize the objects of importance. 8X10 oil on canvas panel.

The colors in this are not quite true. I tried and tried but had to take this with

my IPod as I am visiting my daughter and left my camera at home. Of course

her batteries were dead. This is a very cute painting.

Shiny And Bright

Shiny And Bright

Once upon a time when I was very poor during a dark dismal time

in my life this Beautiful Christmas ornament became mine. I went Christmas

shopping with my sister. I had no money so I really went Christmas window shopping.

I was so sad and depressed but I just went along because she ask me. As we shopped I saw this lovely ornament and I fell in love with it. It was quite expensive so definitely out of question.

A few days later my sister brought a plain white box wrapped up and tied with a

pretty bow. I opened it and to my delight was this special ornament all shiny and bright. I can still remember the happiness I felt...why in fact I still feel it now. I hope that your Christmas

will be shiny and bright and may you receive something totally unexpected. In fact

why don't you give someone something they would never expect. Who knows

maybe 30 years later they may still remember and do a post about it.

Christmas Shine

Christmas Shine is a painting about a passion

of mine. My favorite time of year is Christmas.

The faint scent of fresh cookies baking. The aroma

of my favorite candles as their flames flicker the winter

dance. Everything that sparkles and catches my

attention if only for a brief moment. And each and every Christmas new memories are made. Memories to be

cherished forever. So again as you might guess,

Yep, I love Christmas.
