How to Dig A Hole
If you think this is a silly topic, you don't dig much.
If you dig quite a bit, under a variety of conditions and with a variety of people, you know that most people aren't all that proficient at digging holes. Most people have shovels that are too small and too light weight, many people do not own a proper bar, and very little discussion is given to the different types of holes needed in different situations.
Some folks will box their dog at 2 feet and then begin digging a hole the size of a grave. More commonly an enthusiastic young dog owner will box a dog 5 feet down and reach for a posthole digger. Every tool has its place, and every dig is different, but holes deeper than four feet are fundamentally different from those that are three feet or less. >> To read more
